Symbian Foundation receives more support

Following on from the initial Symbian Foundation announcement Nokia today announced that a further 9 companies are endorsing the plans for the Symbian Founation. The comapnies are mobile operators 3, América Móvil and TIM, semiconductor manufacturer Marvell and services and software providers Aplix, EB, EMCC Software, Sasken and TietoEnator. América Móvil is a key operator in the important Latin America market. It is the fifth biggest operator in the world. Notably it is not a member of either the OHA or Limo Foundation. TIM is the dominant operator in Italy, it is also a member of the OHA. 3 (Hutchinson 3G) is a multi-country operator, it is currently not a member of any other software alliances.Marvell, a semiconductor manufacturer, is also a member of the OHA. They are best known for mobil WiFi related products and the products out of its acquisition of Intel’s Xscale technology in 2006.Aplix, EB, EMCC Software, Sasken and TietEnator are all software companies that have been involved in the Symbain ecosystem for some time. Process Explorer for UIQ3

Process Explorer 

Process Explorer starts where task managers end. It lists all programs running on the phone, including server processes that run invisibly in the background, and are not shown by task managers.Detailed information is presented on each process, including child threads and windows, that was never before available. Process Explorer can terminate any process, provided platform security enforcement is disabled on the phone. S60 has chosen TAT

There’s an announcement over at TAT’s official website saying it is available for developers. For those who dont know what TAT is, check the video below. And read the following excerpt from the announcement ” TAT’s technology enables S60 developers to push UI boundaries to even greater heights. Developers can now easily add advanced graphics such as 3D, change effects and also add skins without having to change existing software or add expensive hardware.”
