Application tip: Nsys Info

June 13, 2007 by Dario Soltani

NSysInfoHere’s an old but still very useful program under review that I warmly recommend for everybody to install! Hopefully you have already come across this earlier and this little article will quickly refresh your memory and remind you once again why you have it installed; if you never heard of this make haste and see what you’ve been missing out on!

NSysInfo is what the name implies a very complete info viewer for Symbian devices that lists phone features, capabilities and to some extend settings. Here’s a small list of some of the information this software provides:

  • Phone model, software version and IMEI
  • Battery level (%) and signal strength (dB)
  • Free/Total of ROM/RAM/phone memory/flash memory (bytes)
  • Processor type, speed and latest system startup reason
  • Resolution and number of colors on main screen
  • Language and region support
  • Network and protocol support, like IPv4 & 6
  • Wi-fi, USB, MMC (incl. hotswap), MIDI, OpenGL ES and EGL availability
  • Synchronization
  • Audio effects and equalizer
  • QOS and IPSec

The list of features and information provided is surprisingly long! The only thing I would to get confirmed from this long list is if the software actually is able to detect if the phone has Cover Display support or not. Find it hard to believe there’s hardware features that checks this so software would be more convincing.. Although it could be hard coded in to the phone whether it supports this or not. Please do confirm. Once again, I strongly recommend this little program and I’m sure you’ll find the information it provides for you highly useful.
