Nokia N95 firmware unofficial changelog, v12.0.013
July 7, 2007 by Dario Soltani
Updated 2007-07-19
These are my initial observations (thus not an official changelog) running the new firmware (v12.0.0.013) on the Nokia N95:
- The phone is generally faster.
- The gallery seems to be loading quicker.
- A-GPS support included (quicker at receiving and locking GPS signals) Enable using Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning Server & define the access point you want.
- Tracking and auto-tracks still works in Maps, but the new mapping software is NOT updated (the new mapview, GPS-status and data estimation not available but you can update the mapping software yourself).
- Camera sharpness bug fixed.
- Safari web browser updated in several areas. The toolbar still works, but you have to hold the d-pad down a bit longer to get the tool bar to pop up.
- The blue and white ‘default’ theme has been removed.
SomeMany people report that key presses won’t work sporadically!- Name of contacts are not displayed depending on if you have saved the phone number with international prefix or not.
- WLAN is more stable.
- Flash is still 2.0.
- RAM optimized?
- The signal metre shows "3.5G" when connected by HSDPA (also known as turbo 3G) and of course "3G" when connected to UMTA.
- You can now zoom images in the gallery up to 800%, previously you could only zoom to 50%
All in all the update seems to contain many bugs. I recommend everyone not updated yet to wait until further notice.
Please report other changes in the forum.

I have the exact same version (RM159) as your screenshot displayed. US edition. No new firmware for me. Do you know what model ID accepts the new version?
Anthony: Yes the update only works for unbranded non-US phones. You can however update your branded/US phone by changing your product code to EURO1 (and risking to void your warranty). Read more about this here.
I updated to the new firmware, unfortunately it has some unexpected bugs. I always save my contacts INCLUDING the international code prefix. Thats because when somebody calls me from home while I am roaming, my caller ID shows the phone number including the international code or prefix. But when I am at home, only the number shows WITHOUT prefix. Example, if I am home Ill get “123456 is calling”, but when Im roaming I will get “+44123456 is calling.” Unfortunately, with the new firmware, I do not get the name of the contact calling me while Im on home network, since the prefix will be missing. That means, if I save the number with international code, the phonebook does not recognize the number and therefore will not show his name on the display when both of us are on the home network, but instead I only see the number. But when I try to call him back, including the international code prefix, then I do get his name when dialing. Any feedback regarding this?
Fadhel: I can only confirm that the bug you are talking about is a reality for all of us that have updated. I know lot’s of people are annoyed and I’m sure Nokia will fix this for the next firmware update as forums all over the internet is getting full of annoyed people.
Also I’ll make sure to update the unofficial changelog and include this bug. Thanks for the feedback!
Hi, Checked out software updater and still it shows 11.0.026 as the latest update …When I entered EURO1 in ’software update availability’ page, it still lists 11.0.026 as the latest update.Do I need to do anything else specific to get to this update ? or was it pulled out ?
ThanksMridul
Hi Mridul. What product code do you have now and in which country did you buy the phone? Is the phone branded? Did you download the latest Nokia Software Updater?
Hi, I went to this site and entered 0534841 (which I got from here as code for EURO1) just to see if what the updater was mentioning was correct or not. It still says 11.0.26 is the last update available ! Was this update rolled back or something because of the issues mentioned above ? Thanks, Mridul
Hi Mridul. No the update has not rolled back
It’s just that Nokia usually takes some time before they update the "Software update availability" page.
You will find the update if you download the "Nokia Software Updater". If you bought the phone in the US/Canada or have a branded model, you also need to change your product code. This is all described in How to: Upgrade your Nokia N95 firmware
Good luck!
Another bug is the internet telephone (VOIP). I have it set to always register.
Problem 1: When a registration fails, it never tries to register again unless i manually change it. This didn’t happen with v11Poblem 2: Once registered, incoming works fine but afer a while is stops working eventhough the servie is still registered.
Anybody else having the same issue?
How are bug reports fed back to Nokia???
Anyone else experiencing Tunde’s VOIP problem?
