  28. If you have unlimited GPRS connection, choose Automatic retrieval and change it otherwise leave as it is.
  29. Click back button multiple times so that you are back to main screen.
  30. Now when you start Messaging Application you will see Gmail Account, goto it and retrieve your email.

This also enables you to attach files, making it possible to send images and other stuff! If you find this guide to complicated, you could always download the Java Gmail reader here.

How should I use POP on mobile or multiple devices?

If you’re accessing your Gmail using POP from multiple clients, Gmail’s recent mode makes sure that all messages are made available to each client, rather than only to the first client to access new mail.

Recent mode fetches the last 30 days of mail, regardless of whether it’s been sent to another POP client already.

If you sign in to Gmail using your Blackberry, you’re signed in to recent mode automatically. For all other POP clients, replace ‘username@gmail.com’ in your POP client settings with ‘recent:username@gmail.com’.

Via Google Help

The above recent mode settings should also solve the problem with sent e-mail ending up in your inbox.

Nice turorial, but how do you keep gmail from downloading your sent email into the inbox?

  2. Dario on July 28th, 2007 07:46

One other thing people, if you are fetching pop e-mails from 2 different clients like your computer and your mobile you probably run into some trouble with mail either ending up on your computer or your mobile, not both…

There is a solution to this problem, you simply put in "recent:" in front of your username on all clients… "recent:username@gmail.com"

hey Mike, I’ve added a solution to you problem. You should use recent mode when checking your Gmail. Read more in the updated article.

    Thanks for the info!
Only on my E50 it won’t work :( I have everything set up as mentioned here above, but when I’m going to connect it takes my E50 for ages. What can be the problem?

Hi Bob. Why not try the Gmail application? It’s free and works good. Try browsing to http://mobile.google.com in your phones browser.

    Hi Jeff.

This post is quite old (dated 27th of July, 2007). Now you have several easier solutions such as

the native google mail client for S60
you’ll find it if you browse to http://m.google.com/?hl=en in your phone browser and yes it’s free

or your could try System Seven which Asri recently wrote about here:

    Hi Dario,

Thanks for ur advise last time, and its solve my problem.
well , i might need ur advise again.

Are u familiar with Nokia E90 calendar entries?
i cant find any repeat (daily, weekly, monthly,or yearly) setting on E90, like my previous hp do (nokia 9500)

    thanks,
    Regards
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff.

You have that option (ONLY) when your adding a new meeting (see the repeat section when adding details about your meeting).

The repeat option is not available if you add another type of activity such as a memo.

When it comes to calendars, I would really recommend you to invest some money in a better calendar application such as handy calendar (which I use myself). The built in application is unfortunatly somewhat limited.

    Good luck.

Jeff: Another tip would be to sync your google calendar with your phone using Google Calendar Sync and Nokia PC Sync. I do it myself and it works perfect.
