N95 accelerometer video & Dasher text input
November 2, 2007 by Dario Soltani
There’s been so much talk about the N95’s accelerometer lately. Mark at the Nokia Blog produced the first video which includes some cool music.
Rock on! Here’s a small demo showing of some of the possibilities. Just think on the possibilities for input.
This is Dasher, a new intuitive way of typing. Just think how neat this would work with a accelerometer sensor
Anyone feeling Nokia should include a visually refined version of Dasher? Write a comment!

dasher for nokia with accelermoter would be great, with practice it would be much faster than using keypad.
Also what about a virtual mouse app for the accelerometer? playing doom or quake with that would be excellent as the keypad is not analogue and no good for gaming.
Yes dasher for s60 is something I tried to promote amongst developers on Fast Track…
A virtual mouse might work if it was really sensitive… There’s always a problem with using the accelerometer on a device for input when it’s supposed to also present the output (the screen). If you move it to much or to fast you’ll get really tired or annoyed
I suck at texting but Dasher is pretty quick once you get the hang of it. I have been playing with it for about 30 minutes. This is the inteface needed for small screen devices. I have an N95 and this would make texting a breeze.
