HELP
I have installed and ran NSS, changed my code to 0549487
Then reset the phone using the *#7370# method
Connected it to PC but NUS is still saying there is no update available

Hi Fuzzy. I’m sure you didn’t change your product code, check the code again in NSS and let me know.

Unless you got the N95-1 classic or the N95-3?
November 24th, 2007 at 1:04 pm
Managed to upgrade my N95 8G firmware from v 10 to v 11 but I noticed that every time a switch off my N95 8G it shows something like “installing” when switch back on. I am not not if it is tryin to install something or looking for a missing application as i never had this issue prior to the upgrade.
Do you have any idea why its coming up with “installing” .
Btw thanks for the great guide..
November 24th, 2007 at 1:24 pm
It seems that most of my Java based installed app were affected by the upgrade.. well well I have to re install them as well..
November 24th, 2007 at 4:36 pm
Hi Zed, thats because your phone is trying to install some uninstalled applications (they do that when you have upgraded the firmware). If the installing screen doesn’t go away I would delete some of the applications manually and install them again myself. Check in Menu - Applications - App.mgr.
November 25th, 2007 at 12:03 am
The installed applications got messed up after the upgrade.. Most of the applications can’t be uninstalled and the shortcuts in the Application are pointing incorrectly i.e when i select Gmail it open up the Dictionary. when I select the Dictionary it shows the MGMAP..
Though re installing the app is fixing the problem.
Btw , I noticed another problem when I use the voice commands after the upgrade it crashes my N95 8G ( unresponsive). I managed to fix it by going to VOice commands properties then turn it OFF then back ON again.

December 5th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
It was never there before, my be cos its on vodafone but not sure..
December 5th, 2007 at 9:12 pm

I just my N95 8g directly from Nokia and it came with v 11.0.026. Had no issues, Camera is instant and no processing after taking the picture like my N95-1
December 6th, 2007 at 4:39 pm
correction to above, Instant picture processing UNLIKE the N95-1. Love this phone. GPS locks up with the Sats really fast.
December 6th, 2007 at 5:28 pm
Hehe yeah manny the N95-2 (aka 8gb) is great! I hear the N82’s camera is even faster!

Hi Anucha, I got the N95 8GB and have never experienced that myself. I’m running the latest firmware… Are you running some kind of firewall program or antivirus on your phone? I noticed those can mess with the Wifi.

Hey guys
can you help me
i have a nokia n95 8gb which did have v10 firmware
i connect it to my computer and wanted to update it via nokia software updater,
it came up with v11, so i decided to update
it downloads the files and then updates the phone but…
it gets to around 75% and then comes up with phone recovery
telling me to take out battery, put it back in and switch on the phone
which i do, but it restarts the installation procedure again, and then just goes in a loop, without actually installing anything onto my phone, which does not boot up at the moment
what shall i do ?
any help will be much appreciated
thanks

hi guys
can you help with this one it seem a little bit petty i know but i made the firmware upgrade to my n95 8g as i coundnt get the phone to sinc with pc suite or i sync on mac thats now fixed but the new firmware has invalidated the access code for the spiderman 3 movie that came preinstalled on the phone any suggestions how to get the code working again?
have you heard of this happening before?
December 24th, 2007 at 11:44 am
yes that always happens Paul. The only way of making it work again is if you made a backup of your memory card, if so you should be able to restore the backup and make the movie work again. Otherwise you’ll need to download the movie (legally of course!) elsewhere.

Pointdexler: Try the new update?
Fazrul: Because it makes your phone better.

I am also suffering the wireless lan problems since upgrading to 11.0.026. I thought it may be a router issue but i have done factory reset and set wireless up with no security to make sure it was workin ok but no joy.
This update has broken my wireless lan connection. I get the 4 small dots indicating i am connected to the LAN. But i keep getting the “no gateway reply”. Pain in the chuffin bum.
DO NOT UPDATE if wireless lan is important to you.
February 11th, 2008 at 3:16 am
re above. I managed to fix my wireless problem by manually inputting the ipv4 information on the phone.
following is copied from nokia forums
The gateway problem occurs with some routers only.
The real solution for the “No Gateway reply” is exactly what epic mentioned in his post.
U have to put the gateway on the phone manually by editing the tool – setting – connection - Access point – (select your access point) - option – edit – advanced – Ipv4 – manual
And give the phone a static IP address (must be with the same range of the wireless router that means have the same first 3 sets of number e.g (192.168.1.xxx) and define net mask (255.255.255.0)
Then define the gateway by using the router IP address eg( 192.168.1.1)
And again use the same IP (192.168.1.1) for the DNS address
This 4 sure works if u have the NO GATEWAY REPLY

Hey all
I did the firmware updgrade about a week ago to my N95 8gb and since then i’ve noticed the battery life is not as good and the phone has 3 times now just died on me. It has 3-4 bars left on the battery and then just says….low battery…. and switches off. Seems strange as the battery before was absolutely fine and with my usage i could easily get 2-3 days out of it. Now it seems i’m charging it daily. Has anyone else suffered this or any words of advice?

Hi! If I save/store more than two telephone nos in one contact say 3 and if that contact is calling from no 3, it does not display the name of stored contact person. And even it rings normal ringtone. but for first two nos it works fine. My firmware is 11.0.026 Does anyone have same problem with N95 8GB. Can this be rectified if upgraded to v15.0.015 Pl. reply.
March 7th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
This is my second firmware upgrade on my n95 8gb. the latest firmware is a bit faster than the previous. But now I got the ‘no reply from gateway’ problem. quite anoying when you are using different free hotspots and you have to configure each hotspot manually, change channels etc. Wouldnt recommend the latest firmware if you use Wifi a lot.
March 7th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
BTW a little tip which works when I get the no gateway reply - start web browsing on your operators data connection then go to options -> tools -> change connection and swith to the access point.
March 9th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Hi, I have the same problem as pointdexler with my N95 8GB, I just got it and updated it but now the camera is not autofocusing and the pictures are all blurred, i read the manual and all it says is, check if your lense is clean(duh), same is with the video camera too. Please can someone help, i cant find any info about this issue?
March 10th, 2008 at 12:36 am
So many questions and so little time.
The blurry camera is a v.11 problem I think. It was sorted with the v15 firmware (correct me if I’m wrong?).
Hilten: Never noticed that? But I’m running v15 and I dont have many contacts with more than 2 numbers so I wouldn’t know.
Thomas: Thanks for sharing!
James: Sure you dont have any applications running in the background?
March 10th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Thanks for reply. Can’t you try and check it? This is the problem with N95 & N95 8 GB, no problem with other Nokia phones.
March 11th, 2008 at 4:40 am
Hey, in reference to what James has said. The same thing has happened to me twice now, and it’s really irratating seeing in how it happened both times when i was asleep and needed the alarm to wake me! Anyways I’ve only changed from n95-1 to n95-2 recently, and by the time i got the n95-2 i just straight away updated the firmware, so i wouldn’t know if it is a firmware problem. No programs running in the background, I’ve made sure of it.
March 19th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Hiten: I’ll look into it when I Have some time over.
Steven_s: you guys should try to upgrade and see if its a firmware problem?

May 29th, 2008 at 3:53 am
I have problem updating my N95 8GB, I have changed the product code to EURO1 (0549487) version, but after 3/4 firmware download, the NSU responded with “currently there’s no software update for your
phone”. But before proceed with download of firmware, the NSU did detects current firmware is v11.0.026 the the update version is v20.0.016
I have also tried with different product code like the UK (0558787) but this one showed update available to v20.0.016 but when accepted the term and condition and proceed with download firmware, the same respond by the NSU “currently there’s no software update for your phone”
Anybody has any idea to solve this problem?
June 10th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Nice one Dario, now you can help me out with an issue please, ive got that installing error poppin up everytime i reboot, transfer etc. its killing my brain, what uninstalled software is it on about? themes etc.? How can you check all the applications on the phone, do you know of any software? thanks.
June 10th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Taz: sounds like you’ve upgraded your firmware but some of the software you’ve got installed isn’t working properly. I’ve had the same problem myself. The solution is to do a factory reset and reinstall the software you need.
June 11th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
yes your right, cheers, now i got to get rid of my tom tom and put it back in again, along with the other annoying applications, damn its a pain. Thanks for the tip man! =D
June 11th, 2008 at 10:36 pm

Hi there,
Wondering if anyone knows if there is anyway to go back to version 15 firmware ?
I used Nokia Software Update and it told me version 20 was available so I updated it.
I then discovered that O2 only support v 15 firmware.
Couldn’t find a way to put it back via PC Suite / Nokia Software even with change of product code and Nokia Service Centre reiterated that once it has been upgraded it cannot go back.
So wondering if anyone knows of anyway to put it back to version 15 ?

Following on from Johnbhoy’s post I would firstly like to say thanks! my wifi now works, yippee!
On another note one line of the fix is very important, that being “And again use the same IP (192.168.1.1) for the DNS address.”
I didn’t think i’d have to as I have it set up on my router to assign DNS addresses automatically, but it didn’t work until I had put it in.
Thanks once again!
