Playing Quake on the Nokia N95 8GB

November 27, 2007 by Dario Soltani

I’m getting ready to leave for UIQ’s develop Fast Track, which takes place 29-30th of November. I thought you wanted to see how Quake performes live on the Nokia N95 8GB. As you can see the game does not flicker and runs really smooth.

You’ll find download and installation instructions for Quake here

    Interesting that …

    To run the PC Quake:
    Processor………: 90 MHz
    RAM……………: 8 MB

But to run the mobile version:
    Processor………: ~200 MHz
    RAM……………: ~24 MB

    I wonder why :)

You cant compare a PC to a phone, the clock cycles (MHz) are not a good way of comparing how powerful a certain device is compared to another… There’s so much more involved.

I am playing Quake 1,2,3 and they really kickass on the N95 8gb, they actually run better than on my pc, the N95 8gb is really powerful and it makes playing quake a real joy, no more boring bus rides to work…its Quake time…

ps. if you know how to code you can get it to play your choice of music while you play the game…how cool is that
