Ever wanted to use your phone as a mouse? Now you can!

NiiMe is a cool new python based software developed for phones with built in accelerometer sensors such as the Nokia N95 or the Nokia 5500. The application allows your phone to control your PC’s mouse. By tilting the phone in different directions you’ll be able to move the mousepointer and click. It does require a Bluetooth adapter though and should not be considers as a substitute for a ‘real’ mouse. I can see a use for this application for those of you with Bluetooth enabled laptops?

This application is still under development, but will be available under GNU/GPL license (free) at www.niime.com.
This is one of many intuitive uses of the accelerometer sensors that are being used in modern smartphones. This information can then be used in various ways and some of the uses we’ve seen in the past include automatic display rotation using RotateMe and emTube, control an RC car with ShakerRacer, have fun with a StarWars lightsabre simulator or to control applications on your phone with NokMote.
