This cant be a coincidence aint it? Just when some blogs are talking about UIQ is dying blahblahblah, UIQ Technology annouced the availity of UIQ 3.3 which brings many enhancements like Opera Mobile 9.5 with Widgets (dont forget the Zoom and Pan function!), a full featured unified messaging system supporting Instant Messaging (not much detail here) and a fullset Java JSR 248 (whatever that means… Ha!). Lets all hope for more interesting UIQ smartphones to be available as soon as possible.  Press release after the jump.

Fresh from the oven. Nokia N95 firmware v21 on NSU now!

v21-2.jpeg

Yup yup…  The days where N95 (Classic) is considered as a sloth is now forgotten. The new v21 firmware has lots of improvements where the top 2 additional features in my opinion are very-very essential. Youtube videos in the browser are now a reality and the inclusion of Web Runtime to run Widgets (Although there aren’t too many widgets out there yet!). This update brings the ageing N95 (Classic) to be one of the most budget-friendly-feature-packed-S60-3rd-Edition-smartphones out there. Go to NSU now! I wonder why Sony Ericsson doesn’t learn from this and left it’s UIQ 3 smartphone rot under the sun…

Thanks to Steve (AAS) and The Symbian Blog for the news!

What’s new? Well, in this episode of the Smartphones-Show, Steve talks about the i450 from Samsung which is heavy on music, a walkthrough on setting up IMAP Gmail on your Symbian smartphone (good one!) and also, an interesting food for thought by Matt Radford about iPhone SDK and Apple’s AppStore. You can watch the show directly on Youtube or if you prefer high quality, the MP4 file is also available for grab. Dont miss this one!

Ybrowser

The undisputed champion of freeware filemanager for S60 3rd Edition just receives a facelift from DrJukka. Changelog in the new version 0.88 includes tweaked design, bug fixes (especially to help S60 3rd Edition SP2 compatibility), menu shortcut accelerators, wildcard file selection, file association settings added, plus a proper plug-in manager. This application is a must for all serious S60 3rd Edition users because without it, your S60 experience is not different than using regular/dumb phone :-) Head over to DrJukka’s official website to download it!
