CorePlayer 1.2.0 “Preview” Release
March 3, 2008 by Asri al-Baker

The most advanced mobile media player, CorePlayer has been updated to version 1.2.0 and made available for Symbian S60 2nd Edition, S60 3rd Edition, UIQ 2 and UIQ 3. Over 300 changes/new features/bugfixes are included in this new version with strong emphasize on the stability.
Lots of improvements in this new release. Among them are SymbianSigned for S60 3rd Edition & UIQ 3 which means it now supports file association and backlight stays on. Not to forget the following :
- Added advanced streaming components UDP/RTP/RTSP/RTCP/SDP/Unicast/Multicast/HTTP Tunneling
- WebBrowser mimetype integration
- Added support for 12 languages
- Added support for YouTube Mobile via web browser ( http://m.youtube.com ). The native YouTube Mobile interface will be in the next release
- Added Google GData Component
- Added CoreAVC WMMX optmizations
- Added support for special chars
- Added Speex and GSM audio codec support
As this is not the “final” 1.2 version, the CorePlayer team calls it “Preview” release before announcing a more advanced and complete version some time in the near future. This is really a welcomed update to the previous version and judging from my own experience using it, CorePlayer worths every penny!
