New firmware v20.0.062 for N82
April 10, 2008

It’s about time! Nokia’s camera flagship, the N82 has just been refreshed. Accordin to Steve Litchfield of AAS, the new firmware boasts FL3 (e.g. playing Youtube videos directly inside the browser) support as well as WRT (Widget Runtime) and also UDP (User Data Preservation). According to Steve again, he noticed the following with the new firmware :
- Flash Lite 3 (including Flash video) - YouTube works, but the frame rate isn’t stellar and videos seem to need ‘opening on the page’ rather than playing automatically
- Web runtime (Widgets)
- GPS location tagging is now integrated into the Camera software, as a setting (default is ‘Off’), plus ‘Show on Map’ is there when viewing a photo later
- More stable software, numerous bug fixes
- Plus (according to Nokia’s firmware web site) ‘camera exposure improvements’ and ‘improvements to Bluetooth headset interoperability’
So, what are you waiting for, head over to NSU to refresh your N82!

Is that Nokia’s Tube?
April 10, 2008

According to our friends at Symbian-Freak, Nokia showed it’s answer to Apple’s iPhone in the form of a device called the “Tube”. Some even call it the iPhone killer. The question is, will it be the iPhone killer like what people said? With only some rough details, there’s no way to tell whether this will be as popular as iPhone. I’ll leave you guys with your own perception about the “Tube” because frankly, it’s not that impressive…

The real Paris aka P5, leaked!
April 3, 2008

This is not an April Fool joke guys. What you see here is as close to the real deal as possible. Our friends at the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog managed to get some materials related to the supremely mysterious P5, codenamed Paris which has been talked about for months. Infact, some people tried to leak the information a few months ago but not as close to the real deal as this one. Look at the photo above, that is P5! It’s a slider, with P1-style rocker QWERTY board underneath the screen and it can do everything except your laundry (that’s a joke ;-)) . But seriously, I’m very excited to see thereal outcome of this new UIQ 3.3 smartphone and what it will do to the UIQ universe.
However, there are still no concrete details about it. No specifications, no releasedate but I’m confident it will be announced somewhere before June 2008. Head over to USEB for the first-hand info!

Yay! Opera Mini v4.1 beta is here!
April 2, 2008

I am a fan of Opera Mini and it’s the most useful internet browser on mobile at the moment. It’s one of the first apps that I must install in any new phone that I receive. It just got better and better. After teasing us with the news about a new beta in it’s official blog, we can now download the new beta from http://www.operamini.com/beta
For the record, this new beta is now signed, which means, it is now possible to type URL directly in the address bar and also you can set the network access to ask only once. No more pop-up asking you to allow it to connect to the internet. Read on to see the what have been improved.
