Opera Mobile 9.5 beta for UIQ 3 goes official

After months of speculation, Opera finally announced the immediate availability of Opera Mobile version 9.5 beta 1 for UIQ 3 smartphones which also includes Opera Widget. This is one of the most anticipated release in the UIQ 3 scene after Opera 9.5 was shown running on a Sony Ericsson P1i in last years’ Symbian Smartphone Show. Get it from Opera Mobile download page. Ola Melen who brought us SMS Diary have released a new cool application called SMS & MMS Diary. It’s basically an enhancement of SMS Diary but with more cool features.
As you will find when you try the program, the SMS & MMS Diary program can not only be used to create diaries from your messages. Your messages are displayed in a “chat-like” way and hence it is very easy to follow your message conversations with your friends. Samsung announces I7110 based on Symbian OS

Samsung have announced the i7110 (there is also an additional press release on symbian.com). It’s a very stylish looking S60 3.2 (which is built on Symbian OS 9.3) candybar.
Here are some of the highlights from the spec sheet:
- OLED QVGA screen
- 5MP camera (with face-detection & VGA video recording)
- Optical mouse (just like on the Innov8 - very cool for web-browsing)
- FM transmitter (useful for music playback on car stereos)
- 12.9mm thickness
Of course it has all the usual trimmings you’d expect from a contemporary Symbian OS phone: GPS, FM radio, accelerometer, Webkit-based S60 browser, HSDPA, audio/video playback, etc. etc.
Foxit PDF Reader (beta) for UIQ 3!

Even with UIQ 3 considered as a dying platform, some developers are still working hard to make software for it. This time, Foxit Software released a public beta of it’s PDF Reader application to UIQ 3. Personally, I really dig Foxit PDF Reader on WIndows XP and this news brought some excitement. How well does it perform? You can also help the development of this application by participating in the support forum.

Garmin Mobile XT version 5.0 available now for UIQ 3 and S60 3rd Edition users

The best SatNav app for Symbian IMHO, Garmin Mobile XT, just reached version 5. The new version looks like a totally new app because the interface has been redesigned and it makes more sense now. And the speed in loading map data is also greatly improved. Both S60 3rd Edition and UIQ 3 users can now enjoy the new version of Garmin Mobile XT.
