			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal" class="Apple-style-span">Following on from the initial Symbian Foundation announcement Nokia today announced that a further 9 companies are endorsing the plans for the Symbian Founation. The comapnies are mobile operators 3, América Móvil and TIM, semiconductor manufacturer Marvell and services and software providers Aplix, EB, EMCC Software, Sasken and TietoEnator. América Móvil is a key operator in the important Latin America market. It is the fifth biggest operator in the world. Notably it is not a member of either the OHA or Limo Foundation. TIM is the dominant operator in Italy, it is also a member of the OHA. 3 (Hutchinson 3G) is a multi-country operator, it is currently not a member of any other software alliances.Marvell, a semiconductor manufacturer, is also a member of the OHA. They are best known for mobil WiFi related products and the products out of its acquisition of Intel&#8217;s Xscale technology in 2006.Aplix, EB, EMCC Software, Sasken and TietEnator are all software companies that have been involved in the Symbain ecosystem for some time. Also in display is the latest version of Garmin Mobile XT for UIQ 3 version 4.20. Foundation to be established to provide royalty-free open platform and accelerate innovation</p>
<p>LONDON, UK; June 24, 2008 &#8212; Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and NTT DOCOMO announced today their intent to unite Symbian OS™, S60, UIQ and MOAP(S) to create one open mobile software platform. Together with AT&amp;T, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Vodafone they plan to establish the Symbian Foundation to extend the appeal of this unified software platform. Membership of this non-profit Foundation will be open to all organizations. This initiative is supported by current shareholders and management of Symbian Limited, who have been actively involved in its development. Plans for the Foundation have already received wide support from other industry leaders.</p>
